Having already been to France several times before, this trip affirmed some of our previous comparisons that we made the last time we were here. One aspect that comes to mind that really epitomizes the North American mentality is the want for MORE. Everything that meets our daily needs, we seem to want more as it classifies what we have fiscally achieved. This display of opulence makes us feel proud of what we have accomplished and although there is nothing wrong with this, being in France, Paris specifically, has demonstrated how accomplished individuals can be regardless of the square footage of their homes, property or the amount of possessions they have acquired.
Each street is densely populated with apartments, shops and vendors of all sorts and given that there is only so much one can have in an apartment dwelling, the priorities of Parisienne lifestyle is not focussed on hoarding items that do not serve a large scale purpose but rather, they will prove to be of some use in their everyday lives as the lifestyle here is one that is spent outside of their homes. While it is without a doubt that a visit to the iconic sites such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and a myriad of museums is a must, straying down random streets can offer just as much enjoyment and wonder.
With so much to see and experience here, each street has its own vibe and feel that there will never be a paucity of experiences for one to encounter. A bar, pub or cafe awaits on each street and at every corner where one can grab a beverage and people-watching can easily become a favourite pastime and assuredly, opportunities will never run dry in this fast-paced unique city of culture.
